Many people have the opinion that digital pianos do not sound like original pianos, while some people say about the upright piano that they take too much space in a room. You will find this kind of conflict about electric pianos and upright pianos very off and on. This conflict is a never-ending one and will also never be solved.People have their personal preferences. Some like the older style and old quality of the music in pianos while some love the new technologies used in the modern day digital piano. The electric piano is not a very old innovation. It has been around for about 20 years now. But they are the most widely used musical instruments today. When the digital piano was first introduced, it was like a blunder. The keys used on the keyboard were extremely light and spongy and the quality of the piano as well as the music was nowhere near the real piano. The sound of these early pianos was too bright and the sampling was quite awful. All these points were working against this new revolution. These early pianos did not feel right at all. The sweetness as well as the sharpness of the original piano was missing out somewhere. The manufacturers of the digital piano had to work really hard to bring it to a stage when it could be something like an original piano. The look of these pianos was also not a good one. It had quite an ugly look. The cases looked liked cheap plastic and it was very difficult to match it with any other furniture in the home. But today digital pianos have become a sensation. Today new models of electric pianos are coming out every two to three years. Today there are many advantages of a digital piano over an upright piano. They have a lot more features and they are portable so they can be easily moved and of course, they sound fantastic.

An electric piano is, as can be understood by the name, an electronic device that can produce sounds just like in a piano. It is basically an instrument that looks like a keyboard with the difference that in any electronic keyboard many sounds can be reproduced among which the piano will be present but in the electric version, you can play only the sound of the piano. It is specially designed so as to produce only one sound. However, nowadays, these instruments can also reproduce the sound of an organ too. A harpsichord is another instrument whose sound is often produced. The name electric piano initially originated from the trade name, which Wurlitzer used for their instruments that were run on electricity. However, the electronic keyboard that we are speaking of is quite different from that. These use analog circuits for functioning. To explain somewhat clearly, there are analog synthesizers present in these keyboards. These then produce tones through a range of oscillators. The older electric piano had a mechanical sometimes-unique sound and used pickups to produce the sound. A Fender Rhodes is a good example. Many electric pianos that are used these days date back a long long time. These were mostly produced in the late seventies and many of the keyboards were designed in Italy. But there is an exception here since the US had produced a few in the year 1967. The RMI Company of the US produced these until the 1980’s and then production stopped. This is because, up until that time professional musicians used the electric piano but after the 1980’s with the coming of electronic synth keyboards they were discarded and people took to the synthesizers. However, there were some technical reasons behind the discarding of the piano. Most of the actual keyboards were not at all sensitive to touch velocity and modulation of tone was not possible. The electronic keyboard on the other hand gave more options and you could change the depth of your note according to the touch pressure on the keys. Therefore, electric pianos became obsolete only to be used now and then, but still a great sound.

The Yamaha YPG 625 keyboard has a new voice technology and this has attracted the masses towards it. This keyboard debuted in the year 2006. This is a portable keyboard which is better than its predecessors. Before this the DGX keyboards were available, the YPG replaced the DGX with its brand new features. The best thing about this keyboard is that it has 88 keys for different actions. The 88 key keyboard is a first for the Yamaha brand at this price. The piano has a real acoustic feel to it. New and debut piano players will be delighted with all the features of the keyboard. It is a lot better than light weighted keyboards. The Yamaha YPG 625 also has a 6 track sequencer. If you have a hidden composer or arranger within you then the sequencer on this keyboard will be extremely helpful. It also has polyphony of 32 notes. This keyboard also has an authentic piano touch. In the lower end it is quite heavy and it gets lighter in the higher portion. Another good quality of the keyboard is that it is very responsive. It also has a built in recorder and it works really well and is easy to use.Another great feature is the education suite that is presented by Yamaha itself from within the keyboard. It also has USB connectivity which is ideal for transferring files to and from a PC or laptop. The keyboard also comes with a wooden stand, power adapter as well as a sustain pedal. The Yamaha YPG 625 has another great feature. It has almost 500 instrument voices that are realistic and has a song arranger which is quite easy to handle.
